How is Friendship like Glitter?

Happy weekend friend! Yesterday I shared a lot of sparkly, NEW things coming your way in just a few days for you and your kiddos from my Comfort & Joy Art home studio. I'm excited to finally be able to share what I have been working on for months. The creative process can often be a lot of fun, but it is so much better when I am able to offer it to the children and families that I have been creating it for. That is really the best part about the whole creative process for me -- seeing the joy that it brings the kids and families like you who choose to be a part of what I have created.

If you have been a part of any of my previous classes, I consider you to be a friend, and I am so grateful for you. It is my deepest joy and honor to serve you with the classes that I create for your children.

Speaking of friends and friendship, I have come to the conclusion that friendship is like glitter! I think you know what I am talking about. There is a verse in the book of Proverbs that states, "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." Friendship is such a deeply beautiful thing. Our friendships are the relationships we have with the people that we are closest too, and the people who make life SO MUCH BETTER than it would be without them.

I think most of us would of course include our immediate family members, and most likely many extended family members as our closest friends, as well as others who we have become close friends with - maybe co-workers, friends of our family, and others we may know through church or community activities we are a part of. Life would not be the same without them!

Well, in the world of children's art, many art projects would just not be the same without glitter!!! Glitter is what we often add to bring the sparkle, shimmer and shine to our projects! There is nothing else quite like it. All of those little pieces of glitter each reflect light, that allows our art projects to dazzle and shine in ways that bring SO MUCH JOY! Can you tell I have a special love for glitter?!!

Friendship is like glitter, because our friends, just like the right glitter in an art project, bring a lot of sparkle, shimmer, and light to our lives - as well as so many other deeply meaningful things like encouragement, hope, strength, wise counsel, joy, comfort, fun, laughter and love. I don't think you can ever have too many friends.

So, you might be thinking what does friendship have to do with the NEW art classes and the NEW children's book I will be sharing with you in a couple of days? Let me just say, for now, that the theme of friendship is one of the themes of the children's book and the art classes that go along with the book. The children's book that I wrote is of course, written for children, but its heartwarming message will connect with readers of all ages.

I can't wait to share it with you!
